youth ministries

First Congregational Church Youth Ministries exist to expose teenagers to God's love and to exalt God through serving those in need, to care for one another, and to equip teenagers to face the world.

CYF (Congregational Youth Fellowship)

CYF Nights

Every Wednesday night we meet at the above times for Food, Fun, and Fellowship. We meet in the basement of our church office building (next door to the church). We have a small time of devotion or lesson, and then spend time playing organized games, or have free time to hang out and play. We also serve a full meal starting at 7:15 for all students. All are welcomed to come, and what better way to see what CYF is all about than by experiencing it first hand!

Game Night

The last Wednesday of each month is strictly for Games! We have all kinds of things to do in the basement, and we also play group games. We encourage new students to especially come on this night, as it is full of fun, and lots of chances to get to know other students and leaders.

Monthly activities

Each month we have one big activity in which we do something fun with the entire group. This is also a great chance to bring friends, or come for the first time. Some examples of things we have done in the past are the following: movie night, scavenger hunts, laser tag, lock-ins, concerts, Halloween night, and many other outrageous events! Stay tuned for the upcoming events on our calendar page here on the website!

Discipleship Groups:

D-Groups are group's set-up with several students and a leader from within the church. These groups spend time fellowshipping together and most of all try to develop close dependable relationships. In their weekly group meetings they discuss topics of what is going on in their lives, struggles, challenges, and growth experiences, They also do Bible studies, or other book studies, in an attempt to learn about life, God, and one another. These groups grow extremely close and are simply life changing. If you want more information on Discipleship groups please contact Matt Scheibel ASAP! Times are set after groups are made, and we can start groups as soon as there are enough to make one!

Leadership and Group Dynamics

On Sunday starting April 1, 2007 we will be meeting for time to study about leadership and healthy group dynamics. We will be using all kinds of sources, and especially following examples out of scripture. In these meetings we will also be attempting to develop our group to be stronger. We will spend time in prayer, and doing small excursions together as a team. This is an excellent chance to mature as a person, and to further your walk with the Lord.

Sunday School:

Every Sunday we meet in the basement of the annex (next doot to the church) for Sunday school. We do a large variety of studies and video series to help further our Christian education. We encourage all students to attend grades 7-12. This is taught primarily by Jim Burgett a member of first Congregational Church, and a man who plays a very active role in the Highland community.
